Before you build your budget, gather these:

Recent pay stubs or income statements
Bank and credit card statements
Bills and recurring expenses
Loan statements and payment schedules
Recent receipts for regular purchases

Start with last month's bank statements and receipts. A budget built on what you actually spent beats one built on what you meant to spend.

Monthly income

Salary, part time work, business income, investment returns, rental income.

Monthly expenses

Housing, transportation, food, insurance, debt payments, healthcare, personal care, entertainment, education, and anything else.

Generosity

Set aside a percentage of your income to bless others and advance God's kingdom.
