Our Beliefs

What we hold to, why we hold to it, and where it comes from.

None of this is here to win an argument. It is here so you know exactly what you are walking into. Every statement below is anchored in Scripture, and we would rather you ask us about any of it than wonder.

What we believe

Statement of Faith

We believe in one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of all things visible and invisible.
  • We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the eternal Word, and the one and only Savior, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, fully human and fully divine; who lived a sinless life; who suffered and was crucified as an atonement for sin; who rose bodily from the dead on the third day; who ascended into Heaven; and who will return in victory to reign forever.
  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, who convicts of sin; indwells every Christian; helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us in prayer; and empowers us to live a fruitful Christian life.
We believe in the Gospel, the Good News of salvation.
  • We believe that humanity, created by God, willfully sinned against Him and is therefore lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that salvation, the forgiveness of sins, is received only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that a person receives salvation by placing faith in Christ, repenting of sin, and confessing Him as Lord, and that the Bible commands every believer to be baptized by immersion.
  • We believe that those who have received salvation through faith in Jesus Christ are sent into the world to proclaim the Gospel and to love and serve others as Jesus did.
We believe in the Bible, God's Word.
  • We believe that God inspired the original writings of Scripture and that those original writings were without error.
  • We believe that the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith, truth, morality, and Christian living.
  • We believe that the Bible teaches that God is the Creator and Sustainer of human life; that every person is created in His image; and that human life is therefore sacred from conception to natural death. We believe that God creates each person as male or female, and that these two distinct and complementary sexes together reflect the image of God in humanity.
  • We believe that the Bible teaches that God established marriage from the beginning as a lifelong, exclusive covenant between one man and one woman; that He designed sexual intimacy as an expression of love and commitment within marriage.
We believe in the Church, God's redeemed people.
  • We believe in the Church of Jesus Christ, founded on the Day of Pentecost, consisting of all Christians everywhere and organized into local assemblies called churches.
  • We believe that the Bible teaches every Christian should be an active member of a local church.
  • We believe that the elders of the church are the overseers of its affairs and the shepherds of its members; that they serve as the final interpretive authority regarding the Bible's meaning and application for the church; and that they are responsible for the oversight, instruction, edification, discipline, and restoration of church members.
We believe the Bible instructs church members to:
  • Meet together regularly for fellowship, worship, teaching, and the Lord's Supper.
  • Use their natural abilities and spiritual gifts to serve one another.
  • Love one another, bear with one another, accept one another, and forgive one another.
  • Pursue unity, agreement, and peace with one another.
  • Bear one another's burdens and pray for one another.
  • Spur one another on toward love and good works.
  • Submit to the authority of the elders of the church.
  • Support the church financially.
  • Pursue personal holiness and obedience to God's Word.
  • Work together to fulfill the Great Commission.
We believe in what is still to come.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ was physically raised from the dead in a glorified body three days after His death on the cross.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return, though Scripture does not reveal the date or time of His return.
  • We believe that God will ultimately restore all things, bringing about a new heaven and a new earth where He will dwell with His redeemed people forever.
  • We believe that those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ will live eternally with Him in His restored creation.
  • We believe that those who reject Christ will face God's final judgment and eternal separation from Him.
The reason behind our name

The Four19 Journey

Three verses, all of them at 4:19. They are where our name comes from and the framework everything else we do is built on.

1 John 4:19

You Are Loved

"We love because he first loved us."

We invite others to meet Jesus and experience more of His love through open door environments, our Sunday services, and events anyone can walk into.

Matthew 4:19

You Have Purpose

"Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."

We invite others to discover what God has for them, and to experience Jesus in a real and personal way, by living close in community around open tables in small groups and teams.

Philippians 4:19

You Can Rest

"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."

When we trust that Jesus will care for our needs, we lead others toward that same confidence, living with open hands and giving generously of our time and resources.
